Heather Dunlop
I am a dog in heat panting in desperation.
If only they fixed me.
I do have to be good. I do have to walk on my knees.
I do have to lean over the sink β piercing the flesh until the puss breaks the surface.
I would not die for beauty but I will make myself sick over it.
Nothing that couldnβt be fixed with a quick hospital visit.
A humiliation ritual and an act of futility holding hands.
Delicate threads hold me up, hold me together, hold me in place.
Cool-sculpted into a smooth, nebulous nothing.
Untethered
Unfeeling
Unfreckled
Everyoneβs mind is violent but mine.
