The Second Law of Thermodynamics
Reid Kurkerewicz
I’m a man of the law.
I have nothing to sell you anymore.
I gave it all to my mom.
She took it out back and mowed the lawn
because I was off at college.
Now I’m a man of the mall.
I see myself in bathroom stalls.
I loved the law. My mom decapitated a rabbit
who lived below our lawn.
She cried
but she will never go to jail.
Reid Kurkerewicz is the author of many pleasing stories, poems, and articles. He grew up in Wisconsin and is currently at work on a novel about a young man convinced he is the forgotten bastard son of Brett Favre.
