Dream Boy Book Club is proud to (finally) present an introductory creative writing workshop specifically designed for writers in the early stages of their literary careers. For all the entry-level authors out there, the notes app poets of tomorrow, cutie substackers, and unpublished hotties across the globe, this is a space designed to nurture your craft and amp up your voice through guided activities and discussion.

Each week we’ll meet on Zoom to generate new poems / stories / essays / scripts, discuss the editing process, give each other feedback, brainstorm sustainable practices, and unpack all the different paths to publication.

WHEN? 90 minutes on five Sundays between August 31st – September 28th (Aug 31st, Sept 7th, Sept 14th, Sept 21st, Sept 28th)

MORNING/AFTEROON: Sundays at 12pm-1:30pm ET (11am-12:30pm CT / 9am-10:30am PT)

or

EVENING/NIGHT: Sundays at 7pm-8:30pm ET (6pm-7:30pm CT / 4pm-5:30pm PT)

EXPLORE THE CONFUSING WORLD OF CONTEMPORARY PUBLISHING!!!

WHO? This is a creative writing workshop for anyone who doesn’t feel like a *real* writer, or isn’t taken seriously by the ‘scene,’ or whose poems keep getting rejected, or doesn’t know how to publish them in the first place! This is a course for anyone who wants to grow out of Substack, or transform their notes app scribbles into a story ready for the next open mic at KGB, or just wants to hang out with other writers once a week and talk about writing in a non-judgmental but still weird/funny/silly environment.

Course facilitated by Jonathan Blake Fostar, editor-in-chief of Dream Boy Book Club, English faculty at DePaul University (PhD @ Illinois State University 2024, MFA @ the School of the Art Institute of Chicago 2018, BA @ New York University 2009).

After applying, you will receive an acceptance letter and link to the tuition portal. Your place in the course is not guaranteed until payment is received. Payment plans are available (contact jonathan@dreamboybook.club with any questions). Withdrawals from the course will receive a 50% refund if submitted before August 24th. No refunds will be provided after that date.
