WHAT?

GET IN LOSER, WE’RE GOING TO A LINDSAY LOHAN-ORIENTED SUMMER CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP is a generative workshop where, using Lindsay Lohan as a spiritual advisor/guiding principle, we’ll brainstorm new ideas, talk through blocks and fuck ups and fears, lock-in and make new literature. We’ll workshop the shiny new pages in our BuRn BoOk, and give each other feedback to help guide edits going forward.

This means each week you’ll explore a writing activity meant to generate new poems, stories, essays, substacks, love letters and secret diaries in unconventional ways. You’ll also receive additional writing prompts to further help spark new ideas, or reinvigorate old ones abandoned in your Notes app. We’ll use gossip and nasty rumors to write poetry. We’ll mine comment sections and subreddits for new stanzas and dialogue. We’ll steal from teen dramas and old Disney Channel Original Movies. And in the end, we’ll create a nice little portfolio of new work.

Classes meet once a week for 1.5 hours (five workshops total).

Our meetings will consist of weekly discussion on the latest activity and our overall craft and practice, followed by sharing and workshopping our new writing. The final workshop will be reserved for getting more in depth feedback on one of the new pieces you’ve written for our course.

WHEN?

Five 90 minute workshops meeting weekly between May 27 - June 24 from 8pm-9:30pm Eastern Time (on May 27, June 3, June 10, June 17, and June 24).
