i said Claire’s has 2 for 1 lobotomies today and
you laughed and it tasted / like clementines. i
love you because we’re the same / brand of
deranged, because everything is perfect / when your
left hand is on the steering wheel / right one
on my thigh, squeezing / what’s left of our
youth. we speed beyond
industrial fog / find where stars spill their
secrets and i’m already / nostalgic for right now,
you’re my favourite / ride in every galaxy.
my other ride a deteriorating / body of flesh
and memory / every particle aching
for you.
Sonja Ringo is a Canadian/American poet and author of two poetry collections, Where the Beetle Went for Lunch and mortal atlas. Her third poetry book is forthcoming.
Ringo's work deals with themes of transcendentalism, technology, mysticism and the nature of existence. When not writing in her home in Calgary, she can be found haunting little-known corners of the globe or curled up beneath an old cedar in search of wild mushrooms.
